What we do

  • We liaise with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust about maintenance, upkeep and projects to develop the use of the site, maintaining paths and hedges, controlling the invasive Himalayan balsam, managing the scrub and providing nest boxes for a wide variety of birds and bats.
  • We aim to conserve the flora and fauna with hands on practical work including surveys for water voles, birds, flowers, butterflies, invertebrates etc. monitoring the health of the brook, monitoring for mink, checking and cleaning bird and bat boxes across the site, hedge laying and scrub clearance.
  • We arrange activities and events to provide increased awareness about the site and its wildlife. In the past the group has put on courses to teach people new skills such as hedge laying and how to identify and monitor the plants and animals on site. Our events include open days, bat and moth evenings, regular balsam bashes and awareness raising events.
