The site is accessible off Rudyard Way with a small car park for 15 cars off Oakamoor Road (B5417) Bike racks are available.

Disabled Access

Hard surfaced paths suitable for wheelchair users cover half the site. There is disabled parking for wheelchair users.

The man-made lake has existed in its current form since 1822. The pool edges are designated a site of biological importance and a diverse range of emergent pool side vegetation occurs including marsh marigold, flag iris and rare for Staffordshire, the greater tussock sedge. A small reed-bed of bulrush occurs at the east end of the site.

Waterfowl include coot, moorhen, tufted duck and great crested grebe. In the summer you can listen for willow warblers, see dragonflies such as common blue and blue tailed damselfly and possibly see a brown hawker.
